Netcraft releases statistics monthly on the total number of websites that on the internet; the August 2005 report showed that there is now a massive 70,392,567 websites on ‘net. But I wanted to see how many are created on a daily, hourly or even secondly basis, so I did the math and found the results.

The above figures were the number of websites created in that time period listed beside the values, but I wanted to see how many actual webpages there is on the internet at the moment, and the rate of which they are being created.

Based on surveys done in 1999, it was calculated that at that time there was an apparent 800 million webpages on the internet. With that figure I found a ratio from a Netcraft report in 1999, and calculated the results.

Based on an average of 121 pages per website, the number of webpages on the internet comes to a total of 8,517,500,607. That means that the number of webpages being created in one:

11,010,945 - Day
458,789 - Hour
7,646 - Minute
127 - Second

As you can see, the web is massive, and constantly growing.
